Everything I read on begining to write or paint or draw, all requires a daily commitment of time. Spending 10-15 minutes each day practicing your craft will increase your confidence and your skill level.
What you write doesn’t have to make any sense, what you paint or draw doesn’t have to be your next masterpiece, the idea is just to get your juices flowing. To carve out the time each and every day, focusing in, and creating the discipline. I know with drawing daily, your hand begins to remember how to make the lines just the right way, seeming to have an internal memory of its own. Much like exercising, your muscles remember being stretched and worked in different ways, movements become easier and stronger, given the time.
This new year for me, is going to be about daily giving myself to create. I have decided that on January 1/2013, every day I will make an entry in my art journal. This will include drawing, colour and writing. It will be interesting to see, at the end of the year, what I have learned and the changes that have taken place.
