Coaching, Creativity, and Community
This week has been a great time of creating and spending time daily focusing on art. One thing I learned, is that I need to be okay with not finishing a page in one sitting! Twice this past week, the journal entry carried over to the next day. I have allowed myself one hour to sit and create each day, usually this time is started by listening to soft worship music and listening to what my heart is saying. Also, many days, I will start with reading the bible. So this will have an influence on what I create and sets the atmosphere and tone for the day.
This entry I started in the morning, and all I did was write a verse, 2Cor.3:16-18, in Copic marker. Then later that day, I sat down and painted over the verse, using acrylic paints. Midway through painting, I really hated it! The good thing about paint, especially acrylic, is that you can paint over and change the parts that don’t work. As I kept on working it, it turned into this. I really like it now! It feels like the freedom I was getting from the verse.
This is a drawing of my cat, Kit is her name. I was going to print out a picture of her on paper and paste it on the page, but my computer decided to crash, it is in being repaired now, hopefully. This is okay, because it gave me the opportunity to practice my drawing skills. I love my cat, she gives me such joy and comfort, I guess that was what I was needing that day.
I drew her with drawing pencils and blending stumps and used pastel pencils to add some colour.
I hope this week found you inspired to create and be willing to let go of any restraints that may be preventing you and give yourself the gift of time to just be!
