Art Journaling – Week 23

20130614-082230.jpg

This week I drew some symbols and planned to colour them in with different mediums. I didn’t make it past the turtle here though.
Using water-colour pencils, which I haven’t had much experience with, it takes time applying the colour and spreading it on the page. I was only able to do so much each day because of the time it took but I am happy with the results.
The turtle symbolizes longevity and stability in many cultures around the world due to their long life span. They are slow creatures and are popularly seen as patient, easygoing and wise. Maybe this is why I chose the water-colour pencils to paint the turtle, it did require patients from me and was a slow-moving process.
In our western culture we could use some turtle ways, to slow down and enjoy the present moments and to have patients rather than expecting everything to happen immediately.
Slow and steady, enjoy the day!
