Art Journaling – Week 25 – Becoming

This week was all about becoming aware of what I am thinking, taking all the toxic thoughts that do nothing but create anxiety and stress, and purposefully surrender them to God.  Then, replace those thoughts with good.  It is hard work!  It takes a lot of focus and discipline but I have recently learned that engaging in this mind renewal work will change the wiring of my brain so I can see clearer, live with a greater freedom and authenticity, and be better equipped to move in my unique gifting and purpose.  The good news is that it gets easier and more automatic to do this “capturing every thought” and this is because my brain is actually changing, the bad removed and replaced with good.  I have studied and listened to teaching by a brain scientist, Dr. Caroline Leaf, who teaches so much about how our brain operates.

I find the human brain fascinating, and enjoy learning how it operates.  Apparently we have over 3 million years of storage space in our brains! How crazy is that?  And to think I have trouble remembering what I had for dinner last night.

These two creations I made, show differently my process of looking at the chaotic, busy, troubled stuff and moving towards what flows, is peaceful and good.

Both of these paintings  are watercolour and markers.

“Take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.”

They’re beautiful. My mantra is “Let go, let God”. It works every time.
