Coaching, Creativity, and Community
Art Journaling in the park last Sunday was beautiful. The day was sunny and warm and I found a table in the shade, yay.
To begin we spent some time in prayer, asking for God to show us whatever he wanted to reveal and have us create during our time.
My creation above ,done in water-colour and water-soluble crayons and using stencils.
The first thing that came to my mind was the lotus flower. It is a very interesting flower because it rises up out of the mud and murky waters and blooms into this amazingly beautiful flower. A great representation of my life and a reminder of how far I have come. I feel like I will always be in the process of becoming that beautiful blooming lotus flower, always more petals to grow and some to fall away, a continuous work in progress. The important thing is to keep my head up and not fall back into the muck and mud.
The second side of the page represents celebration. This came to me as I was painting it. I have much to celebrate and my thoughts needs to remain there.
I am claiming the lotus flower as my own personal symbol and have a plan in mind of a series of paintings to put up in our kitchen at home. We all need reminding that despite the difficulties and ugliness life can bring, we can still remain beautiful and bloom big, bright and strong. God has a way of using the hurts, brokenness and messes in our life, turning it around for good and for His glory. My life is full of this testimony.
Below is the creation my artist friend made on Sunday:
“This painting is a wave. For me it represents God over me, washing out what needs to be. In Num.8:21(NIV) it reads: “offered them as a wave offering before the Lord.” Jesus is always sending waves over me, so that I am an offering to God. As Jesus is waving over me, I can wave my worship flags to honour the Lord. ” Carol
