Today’s Prompt: If you could zoom through space in the speed of light, what place would you go to right now?
The very first thought that popped into my mind, is the black sands beach, in Hana, Maui. I grabbed the pics above from Google Images, to help bring me back there.
It has been over five years since I was there, and I believe it is one of my all time favorite places in the world! I was captured, there is a surreal quality in this place, like we just arrived into another world, possibly even, another dimension. Immediately my creative mind started flowing, where am I, who or what lives here?
Walking down to the beach, feeling the warm salty breeze blowing, admiring the sparkling waves crashing into the rocks, anticipating the texture of the sand between my toes and the edge of the foaming water washing over my feet, my senses were almost intoxicated. This place has a sacred feel to it. Again, looking around, expecting to see more.
Sitting down in the damp black sand, by some rocks and playing with my hands in the sand. Watching kids disappear into a nearby cave, wondering if that is such a good idea. What kind of creatures might dwell in a cave, an Oceanside cave? I hear them laughing, so all is well.
Gazing out at the water, wishing time would freeze this perfect moment.
Nice!
So many good thoughts to go with this. What did the sand feel like between your toes? What did the air smell like, taste like? Was it cool against your skin, or did the sun make you feel blanketed in warmth (maybe too much warmth?)? There is so much to get lost in, would love to see you get lost in it and relive that time you spent there through your post (so we can all live it vicariously through you!) 🙂
Yes, thank you so much for the tips! 🙂
This place has a sacred feel to it… Those are the kind of places I like the very best. They are known in mythology as “thin places” where one is closest to God.
hmmmm, yes, love that!
Words like “I believe,” “possible,” “almost,” gives me a sense of tentativeness, like you’re holding back a bit– and I like that tension, since you say “the very first thought that popped into my mind.” This lends itself to a sort of inexorability, like the location will have to seduce you… and it WILL seduce you… 🙂 Nice job.
I could practically smell and taste the salt water! Nicely done!
Hi!
I’m Janice. I wanted to thank you for following my blog! Welcome to Reflections!
I’d like to respond to your post as well.
Last night someone played blogger tag with me. I was tagged, so I had to answer 7 questions. One was what 4 places would I prefer to be right now. I couldn’t think of one, not even with my kids at their colleges.
I’ve been to Hawaii. SO beautiful, perhaps most beautiful on earth, but I think I’m a homebody. I love my dogs, my house, my friends, my relatives that are here, my job, my husband, our life, my blog.
Am I boring?
I agree Hawaii is beautiful, though. I also found your title intriguing.
Nice to meet you. Thank you again for the blog follow.
Janice
Thank you Janice! I too am a homebody but get itchy feet and love to travel for short trips. Nice to connect with you!
Me too. Nice to meet you too. Thank you again.
